Comparing defined benefit and defined contribution pensions

AF Advisors’ partner Jasper Haak and consultant Guido Corbeau wrote an article about defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans.

In their article, Jasper and Guido address the differences in the investment policy, costs and implementation of the two pension plans. Portfolios of pension funds are not comparable to other portfolios in terms of their investment policy.

Besides managing a large amount of assets, pension funds have concrete obligations. Based on the analysis of their assets and liabilities, pension funds determine the strategic asset allocation that should in practice deliver the desired level of return while not exceeding the permissible risk levels.

Additionally, Jasper and Guido also address the main developments in the European and specifically Dutch pension sector.
